Gibson Music Ltd was established 12th April 2010 and was formerly known as Procom Music Ltd, which had been established in Ashton-Under-Lyne for over 20 years.

The shop is run by Steve Gibson. Steve has played guitar for over 35 years and has a vast experience in retail and field sales.

Our in-house guitar technician has 40 years of experience in guitar repairs and maintenance including setups, neck breaks, fret dressing and refrets, pickup and hardware upgrades and general maintenance. In addition to instrument repairs, we also have many years of experience with equipment repairs and maintenance for amplifiers and speakers, as well as experience in PAT testing.

The shop stocks a wide range of electric, acoustic and bass guitars as well as banjos, mandolins and ukuleles designed to cater for every genre and budget. We also stock strings, amps, pedals and tuners from all the top brands to compliment any guitar setup.

On the ground floor our PA department has a large selection of FBT PA, microphones on the JTS testing station and lighting which are available to buy or to hire. 

Also on the ground floor is the Backstage Cafe ran by Steves wife, Tina so you are assured of great advice and somewhere to grab refreshments at the same time.

About GK Electronics

Gary Kenton - Has been the Proprietor of GK Electronics for over 20 years.

Gary has had many years’ experience in the music business and has all the required knowledge to provide a professional and friendly service tailored to your specific needs.

Gary was brought up in a musical environment, his father was a bandleader and his mother was the singer. In the 1970’s they owned the ‘Moonrakers’ Licenced restaurant in Redruth. This gave Gary experience of running a business; he was involved with all aspects of the operation including handling the money, suppliers, staff and customers.

On leaving school at 18 Gary started his first solo venture, opening up a shop in Station Hill, Redruth, selling sound and lighting equipment, and also home organs. This lasted for 18 months, eventually closing down before the big sewage upgrade scheme closed Redruth to traffic for some months.

During this time Gary had still been running a very low-key business selling sound and lighting equipment from home. Now the decision was taken to expand this and so premises were found at Dudnance Lane, Pool. This business ran for a few years, but unfortunately the decision to take a partner into the business later on did not work and eventually the business was forced to close down.

Gary then took a job with RJ Fletcher as a technician, and worked there for 18 months, bringing many of his own customers to the business. However, in 1993 he took the decision to leave and set up a new business of his own ‘GK Electronics’.

GK Electronics was founded by Gary Kenton on 21st February 1993. It traded from rented premises at Unit 2, Agar Way. Stock was minimal and customers few at first, but Gary persevered and gradually built up both.

In 2014 GK Electronics moved into the substantially bigger Unit 7A and continues to thrive within the industry. Over the last few years, GK Electronics has become a trusted and reliable company, being able to include many top businesses as clients. Some of these clients include:

Our Shop and Demo Room is ideally situated just 0.6 miles away from Junction 9 of the M5 motorway and a further 3 miles to the M50. You will find us easily whether you are travelling from Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Evesham, Worcester, Birmingham, Wales or even further afield. We have plenty of parking directly outside the Shop and are available to meet customers outside of working hours by appointment if necessary.

If you are travelling to us via the M5 then turn off the Junction 9 roundabout onto the A46, and head towards "Ashchurch/Evesham/Northway Trading Estate".

Stay on this road for 0.4 miles and take the second left, signposted "Northway and Trading Estate", on to Northway Lane.

Continue straight over the mini roundabout, over the bridge, and then turn right at the next mini roundabout.

Penlyon Electrical Ltd was formed  in March 1993 as part of a management buy out of Norman Rose Ltd. At that time the business had already been operating in the West Midlands for more than 20 years.

Our core business is the sale of public address systems and ancillary equipment, loop induction and infrared hearing aid systems, disco sound and light products and CCTV systems. Whilst a relatively young company our staff can boast of many years practical experience within our field of operation. “47 years. I just can't believe it” says Graham Pell (director), the owner and creator of Soundpad. Started in 1972 in Leicester, when rock 'n' roll was at its peak, since then the business has seen a massive change in the music industry. At the time Soundpad was the largest Musical Instrument Store in Europe. It hosted the biggest selection of guitars & amplifiers available, and even had a dedicated drum floor. It's aim was to provide everything any musician needed to get going. Although the music industry has seen a big change since then, Soundpad's goals are still the same. It's knowledgeable and friendly staff have a wealth of experience and are always willing to provide their professional advice.

Graham Pell and his son, Richard Pell (manager), have always been the driving force behind the business. Together having a combined experience of over 70 years, there is little they don't know!

“Having started in a Rock 'n' Roll industry, we have had to adjust the business over the years as different styles come and go” says Richard Pell. “The rise in dance music during the 90's saw our business change massively. Suddenly we became a DJ & Disco store.”

Having made the move from Leicester to Barnstaple in 1988, Soundpad established itself in the heart of the Devon music community. Joined by other long-term staff members, Soundpad has continued to evolve.

I’m Pete Alcock, a Bournemouth-based Live Sound Engineer, and I offer a range of services to local bands, schools, businesses and Churches. These include:

I trained and qualified as an Engineer at the BBC in London in the mid-80s and worked at both the Broadcasting House and Maida Vale Studios. Since then I have worked with a huge variety of clients and musicians including some of the foremost performers on the UK Jazz scene. In recent years, I’ve specialised in the Big Band, Swing, Funk and Jazz genres and have geared up accordingly (you need a lot of mics for a 17-piece big band!). I’m the Technical Manager of Swing Unlimited Big Band and you’ll see many pictures of shows we’ve done together in the photo gallery, as well as at the Swing Unlimited Jazz Club which is now in its fourth year of presenting weekly Wednesday night Jazz in Bournemouth.
